amazon commission fee

What Amazon actually takes from every sale.

The Amazon commission fee is one of three fees. Count all three before you buy.

The Amazon commission fee, called the referral fee, is a percentage of each sale. Add the fulfillment fee and storage if it sits, and you know exactly what is left before you buy.

How I stopped getting surprised

I counted every fee before the stock arrived, not after. My best line ran at about 20% margin.

The fees on every Amazon sale

  1. Referral feeAmazon's commission, a percentage of the sale price.
  2. Fulfillment feePicking, packing and shipping each order.
  3. Storage feeMonthly, for stock that sits in the warehouse.

The three fees on every Amazon sale

The Amazon commission fee is called the referral fee. It is a percentage of each sale price, and the percentage depends on the category. Most categories sit around 15%.

On top of that, FBA charges a fulfillment fee per unit for picking, packing and shipping, based on size and weight. And if your stock sits in the warehouse, you pay a monthly storage fee.

None of these fees are a surprise if you count them before you buy. That is the whole trick. I priced the buy, not the listing, and my best line ran at about 20% margin after every fee.
